So the fireworks are going off, their colours resplendent against the dark night sky, and instead of enjoying it in all it's glory, I find myself watching it through a grainy video recording on my handphone's 3.5x4cm screen. And I realised that fireworks, like many things in life, are ephemeral. Their beauty lies in their transiency. To try too hard to make it stay for longer than it should will only serve to distract you from the most beautiful of it, leaving you with nothing but an inadequate momento of what was perfect. So just take every moment for what it's worth, because, well, if it's not meant to last, nothing you do could possibly make it.
I need to remember that. Also, Singaporeans, at your country's National Day Parade, would it kill you to stand around till the end of your national anthem BEFORE you start gathering up your things and leaving in droves?
